Infant Bodywork

During this visit, I’ll ask you about your pregnancy and birth and your observations of your baby. Through subtle, hands-on touch, I’ll help to identify sources of tension in your baby’s body that we will work to release, and empower you with tools to continue the work at home. All babies can benefit from this practice, and especially those who may be struggling with breastfeeding issues, torticollis, side preference, gas, reflux, general abdominal discomfort, constipation, and fussiness. This work is especially beneficial for babies who have received a tongue tie release or other painful procedures. Our goal is deep relaxation, and many babies fall deeply asleep during the treatment.

While breastfeeding is “natural,” it certainly doesn’t come naturally most of the time! During our first visit, we will work together to discuss your current concerns, and to identify your short and long-term goals around feeding your baby. This consultation includes collecting a detailed feeding and medical history for you and baby, a physical exam for mom and baby (including maternal anatomy and infant oral function), and a feeding assessment which will include observing pre- and post-feeding infant weights. Our visit will also always include an assessment of where baby is holding tension in their body, and some tips on how to release that tension to improve baby’s comfort and to improve the breastfeeding relationship. This visit covers up to two hours of skilled and personal lactation support, and follow-up support for the following week via phone, text or email. A superbill will be provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
